On 16 April, SELA hosted the webinar “The Evolution of Power Purchase Agreements in a Comparative Perspective: The Italian and the Swiss Experiences”, as part of its Energy Lunch series.

The webinar featured two speakers who addressed the topic of Power Purchase Agreements from complementary perspectives.

Dr. Brigitta Kratz focused on the Swiss regulatory framework applicable to PPAs. Her presentation examined recent and forthcoming developments in Swiss energy law, including the revised rules on basic supply, the new federal framework on supervision and transparency in wholesale energy markets, the reform of the Swiss balancing energy market, and current issues relating to guarantees of origin.

Avv. Lorenzo Parola addressed corporate PPAs from a comparative and contractual standpoint, with particular attention to the distinction between physical and virtual models, the main PPA structures currently used in practice, the principal risk allocation issues, and the key contractual provisions typically negotiated in these agreements.

The presentation slides are available in attachment to this page.
